The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses. The 8(a) Program is an essential instrument for helping socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs gain access to the economic mainstream of American society.

The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain access to federal procurement opportunities. HUBZone is a United States Small Business Administration (SBA) program for small companies that operate and employ people in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones). The HUBZone program was created in response to the HUBZone Empowerment Act created by the US Congress in 1998. Sage Senergy is certified by the SBA as a HUBZone Small Business.

The Small Business Act authorizes contracting officers to specifically limit, or set aside, certain requirements for competition solely among women-owned small businesses (WOSBs) or economically disadvantaged women owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). This is referred to as the WOSB Program. These procurement mechanisms are meant to increase federal contracting opportunities for WOSBs and to assist agencies in achieving their women-owned small business goals. Sage Senergy is certified by the SBA and the National Women Business Owner Corporation (NWBOC) as an EDWOSB.
